Matt Bates is a solo artist in the singer-songwriter style with a principal radio category of adult contemporary. Matt will perform original songs about relationships, art, and personal enlightenment...feel-good and hummable tunes. Matt plays at farmer's markets, festivals and restaurant venues in SouthWestern Ontario. For Open-Tuning he will be singing and playing guitar on the 17 Yarmouth Gardens stage at 7pm.

As a songwriter Matt has been influenced by many genre's; Jazz standards, for their complex harmonic motions and tension filled melodies. 60's pop, for breaking free from typical chord progressions and accentuation of bass and beat. Electronica and ambient music, for its ability to create space and to place time. Country, for emotions worn on your sleeve.
